6 CommentsLooking for a new compact camera? There is so much choice these days, its quite frightening. Here is the one I would go for, the Panasonic Lumix TZ7, absolutely loaded with features, the great build quality you would expect for a Panasonic and tremendous reliability. Not only is it loaded for features, but the functionality is first class. So easy to navigate between the settings, taking photos, reviewing photos and shooting the HD video. The options include two wonderful features, including sports mode, with near instant click and faster shutter speed enabling you to catch the action shot you want, not the shot which happened two seconds after the action unfolded. It also has night portrait mode, which is more than just flash, but it boosts the picture to brighten the subjects, so that you can take brilliant shots of your loved ones (or whoever you want) at night and see them as if the sun was splitting the sky.
There are several different specs you can go for in terms of megapixels and optical zoom. I have went for 10 megapixels, which is more than sufficient for excellent amateur photography and 12* optical zoom, which is far superior to most of the competition, it allows you to zoom into take close up shots of whatever you want. Remember optical zoom is the real deal, digital zoom is only technical jiggery pokery, and using it actually reduces the quality of the picture, whereas using optical zoom gives you the same crystal clear images you would get with using no zoom.
